The brief for this CAT A project was to create a fresh and modern space, one which would attract new tenants to the Moretown Complex. With an increasingly diverse type of tenant occupying space in the local area, the design needed to be agile in the sense that it had to cater for all sectors, from tech through to corporate.
The design intent was to transform the dated, existing building; especially within the reception area which needed to turned into a bright, inviting and sophisticated space.
Key features that bring the CAT A space to life, in particular, is the open ceiling which centrally creates huge heights in addition to the LED recessed lighting which gives a sense of being drawn into the space. This simple yet significant element shows the best exposed services, hides the worst and has helped to create a space with simplicity for tenants in mind.
ThirdWay designed the bulkhead concept to contain all elements that created noise, as well as any elements that were costly to move for a tenant fit-out. This meant that the sealed acoustics could then be built around when needed, and limited moves were needed from the MEP perspective.
Design Director for ThirdWay and Lead Designer for the project, Rob Goulder quoted: “We love the design of this space, to us, it’s the next step on from the standard exposed services. It’s equally satisfying that this was designed 2 years ago, and yet we feel this is now in its delivery, still ahead of this being a commonly adopted design”.
