Inside ThirdWay: TWOne
TW One is a subsidiary entity within ThirdWay Interiors – a team dedicated to designing and delivering smaller projects – and headed up by Director Fraser Hogg. Here he gives us a little insight into the business and why small jobs remain a big deal to ThirdWay.
“I joined the company in the summer of 2015 after meeting one of the owners of Thirdway at a party and discussing the work they did. ThirdWay Interiors had a reputation for being a fantastic place to work, and although I knew little of the design and build industry, I knew I wanted to be part of this team.
Once I started, I knew I had made the right choice. It’s a company built on forging strong relationships both externally with clients and internally as a team; a perfect environment for those wanting to learn and it offers lots of opportunity.
The relationships the company had built with their earliest clientele - small, start-ups not unlike ThirdWay themselves - frequently meant that those clients would return to ThirdWay for their next office design, having outgrown their first space, either physically or perceptually.
ThirdWay was quickly maturing alongside its clients, taking on bigger projects and, in time, diversifying the type of work that was delivered. We were just as likely to pitch for a tiny office for a charity as we were a 30,000 sq. ft. Cat A renovation for a significant real estate developer.
More recently, ThirdWay Interiors has grown to be part of a much larger organisation of specialists, ThirdWay Group, which covers everything from office fit out and furniture procurement to architecture and property investment.
But we have never lost focus on what our business was built on – offering design-led, best value schemes to every client.
That’s why we established TWOne as a separate department in 2017.
TWOne focuses only on the smaller businesses and works only on floorplates of up to 5000 sq ft. Often we’re designing the client’s first office as they move out of a shared workspace which is an exciting and daunting time for them. One of the most enjoyable parts of the process for us is that we can help them find confidence in their identity. We like to get under their skin and design their office in line with who they are and where they want to be.
We work closely with the wider company which allows us to balance the speed, enthusiasm and tenacity of a start-up with the confidence, knowledge and reputation of the established company.
In our first year, TWOne delivered 29 projects; 10 of which have already led to a second project, one which led to another four projects. As a team focused on sustainable relationships, it is massively rewarding to see such loyalty from our clients so quickly.
It makes the future very exciting for us as a team.”
