ThirdWay Group Visits Barcelona
This time a week ago the ThirdWay Group took over a small aircraft flying out of Gatwick and on route to Barcelona for our annual team-building trip. With Barcelona Design Week in full swing it seemed the perfect location to immerse ourselves in the temporary exhibitions of the festival as well as the art and architecture permanently on offer in the Catalonian capital.
This year the theme of Barcelona Design Week was ‘revalue’; a topic that addresses the consequences of a consumer society and encourages visitors to rethink unsustainable behaviours and models. Design, after all, is a crucial tool in the movement towards forming a more conscious society.
Sustainability is a priority for ThirdWay and we consider environmental performance from every angle - helping our clients create buildings that are efficient with resources, long-lasting in both their design and construction, as well as affordable to build and operate. We have helped many clients realise their sustainability aspirations in buildings that have achieved BREEAM Outstanding, SKA Gold & LEED Gold accreditations.
In addition to the design week highlights, we visited other architectural and artisan points of interest ranging from Gaudi’s gigantic Sagrada Familia cathedral to a tiny local tile factory where we got to see the craftsmanship that went into each traditionally-made encaustic tile. The creative theme continued into the evening when we experienced multi-sensory dining in a renowned avant-garde restaurant. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a ThirdWay trip if we didn’t make the most of the beach and Barcelona nightlife too.
108 members of Thirdway staff attended the event which proved to be a fantastic way to strengthen existing friendships, form new ones, and inspire the type of creativity and collaboration ThirdWay is known for.
